“It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.” Creativity presents so much freedom and flexibility, we often mistakenly associate creativity with a lack of disciple. To thrive within a creative career requires the disciple of a warrior, the flexibility of water, and the fortitude of an ant.
We are all born creative, it’s written in our DNA.
“Creativity is the ability to see, to bring a novel perspective to a problem.” Milhalay
My daughter age 6, loves to draw. One morning she called up the stairs “Mummy, Daddy don’t come down, I’m making a surprise for you.” This piqued my curiosity, and I wondered what she was up to. A little while later she called, “Come down it’s ready.” We walked down the stairs and she stood there beaming. “Welcome to my exhibition,” she said with a proud smile. She had taken sticky tape and put her artwork up on all our walls. She didn’t ask permission to create, and she boldly shared her work. It’s a part of who she is- unquestionably, unassumingly creative.
As children, our creativity is fearless, but as we grow older, our schools and society slowly chip it away. It is only when we embrace it again, can we truly find our purpose and fulfill our full potential.
